About the designer / neutrawear™,
As a fan of cultural arts, contemporary arts and dynamic music such as afrobeat, and hip-hop, reggae, neo-soul and broken beat. Personally I think these type of genres are similar in terms of getting messages through to people. neutrawear™ label designs are designed and owned by the upcoming designer who is known as Francis Bolaji. neutrawear™ specialise in producing very eye catching designs extracted from the lyrics, quotes and messages pronounced by the legend, creator, innovator, and multi-instrumentalist Fela kuti. Though all these designs are influence by the western designs looking feel but the message and culture of afrobeat remains.

Inspiration
Since Afrobeat is a culture in its own existence, politics are essential to the genre of Afrobeat, since founder Kuti was deeply concerned in social criticism to pave way for social change. His message can be described as confrontational and controversial, which can be related to the political climate of most of the African countries. All these factors are the really inspiration behind the Afrobeat t-shirts designs and Afrobeat is a combination of Yoruba music, jazz, Highlife, and funk rhythms, fused with African percussion and vocal styles, and all these elements allow it to spread to different parts of the world even though it remain as underground music. Afrobeat tend to be sung in Nigerian Pidgin English which is widely spoken in West Africa and the language is very important in the t-shirt designs to maintain the feel, and legitimacy of the message.

The Post-Fela, the Afrobeat scene is spreading and the music has taken solid root on the World Café and this is what inspired neutrawear™ to focus mainly on Afrobeat culture, arts and designs which Afrobeat fans or new listeners can relate to. Meanwhile the new designs consists of both political statement and contemporary fashion design elements which can be related to by Africans, or non Africans interested in Afrobeat music. For example the “vip” abbreviation which Fela Kuti termed as vagabonds in power, and this is a powerful statement which if you look at the situation around the world the people in power are vagabonds anyway. Another example is “water no get enemy” if you think deep about this statement, has water got enemy? I doubt it.
